In Israel, the Defense Service Law mandates the enlistment to the Israeli Defense Forces for all citizens who have turned 18. The normal length of compulsory service is currently two years and eight months for men and two years for women.
Women currently make up 3% of the Israel Defense Force’s combat soldiers and over the past 50+ years, an estimated 535 female Israeli soldiers had been killed in combat operations. Currently, the most notorious women’s combat unit is Caracal Battalion, which is a light infantry force that is made up of 70 percent female soldiers.
Of all the females in all the Israeli Defense units, Kim Mellibovsky may be the most noteworthy. The Israeli citizen is making the rounds on the internet, being dubbed The World’s Hottest Soldier and I certainly can’t prove that theory wrong.
